Are you stuck at the âTurn on your microphoneâ or âTurn on your cameraâ step while trying to join a research session?
Click a link below for help.
If that doesnât work, try updating your Apple/Mac system settings or your Windows system settings
Browser fix: microphone or camera blocked
In the upper-right corner of the setup window, click the icon with the small red X
Click the âAlways allowâ option in the popup window
Click âDoneâ
Select a camera or microphone in the browserâs narrow window and continue setup
Apple/Mac system fix (if browser fix does not work)
Mouse to the upper left-hand corner of your screen and click the Apple icon to open System Settings
In the search field, type âmicrophoneâ or âcameraâ
Select âAllow applications to access âŚâ in the left-hand panel
In the right-hand panel, click the toggle next to Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to 'onâ
Follow the instructions to Quit & Reopen

You will need to go through some of the steps you completed earlier, but this time you should be able to select a microphone or camera
Windows system fix (if browser fix does not work)
In the Start menu, open Settings
Search for âMicrophone Privacy Settingsâ or âCamera Privacy Settingsâ and open it
Scroll to find âAllow desktop apps to access your âŚâ microphone or camera
Click the toggle to 'on'
Exit the browser
Re-follow the link already shared with you
You will need to go through some of the steps you completed earlier, but this time you should be able to select a microphone or camera
