Before the session begins, the Participant should:
- download the Participate app (iOS or Android, or install the Chrome extension
- have a set of required headsets
- make sure they're on a strong WiFi connection — not mobile
Then on the testing day, the Participant clicks on the Participate URL 👇
...and is brought into the onboarding flow. (The flow below reflects the iOS experience).
A reminder about headsets, and then they're asked for their name and email. If you don't require sharing real name and email, just request they make something up, e.g., P1, P2, etc. and as long as the email address follows the format firstname.lastname@example.org.
Then a series of permissions: notification are requested and are sent during the research session ONLY should there be any issues to alert the Participant of. Enable camera, screen (iOS screen broadcast steps are shown above), and then they’re held in the waiting room until you, the Moderator, initiate the session. You're notified in-app when a Participant has arrived and is ready to begin.
