To get your research underway, you first need to create a 'Project' and a 'Round.'

  • Project represents your higher level research theme.

  • Round The round represents the level for iterations, and focuses on the details of your test plan – the method of testing, the devices your testing on and the actual tasks themselves.

  • Rounds live within a Project and each iteration (a conducted research session) based on that round is captured and called a session. You can have multiple Rounds, of all different round types, within the same Project.

Creating a Project

  1. Log on to Lookback on your desktop/laptop on a Google Chrome browser

  2. Click New Project on the top right corner.

  3. Name your Project and add a description, if you like.

  4. Unless you are on a Starter or Freelance plan, you can also choose to make your project Private and add specific project members who can access your Project. Please note: in order to add members to your project, they need to already be members of your Lookback organisation.

Creating a Round of Research

Choose the type of Round you want

You have a few Round/session Types (Test Plan Types) to choose from:

  • Recording includes participant's voice and screen. Recording the participant's face/camera is is optional.

  • Moderator can also share their screen with the participant.

You can limit the participants that can take this test, so that you have control over the number of sessions used in an unmoderated round.

  • Recording includes participant's voice and screen. Recording the participant's face/camera is is optional.

  • Compatible with iOS, Android, & Desktop.

  • Participants are required to download Lookback's Participate App on mobile

Tasks

An unmoderated, remote Round type that allows participants to carry out the session on their own time. Allows you to design give more detailed tasks and step-by-step instructions and ensure participants have completed a task before they proceed to the next. You can set a different auto-open url for each task, and limit the participants that can take this test, so that you have control over the number of sessions used in an unmoderated round.

  • Recording includes participant's voice and screen. Face camera recording is optional.

  • Compatible with iOS, Android, & Desktop

  • Participants are required to download Lookback's Participate App on mobile
