To get your research underway, you first need to create a Project and a Round of research. Here's how we define those terms in Lookback:
Project represents your higher level research theme. To use an analog analogy, you can think of a project as a drawer in a file cabinet.
Round The round represents the level for iterations, and focuses on the details of your test plan – the method of testing, the devices your testing on and the actual tasks themselves. To carry on the file cabinet analogy, a round would be like a folder in the drawer (project).
Rounds live within a Project and each iteration (a conducted research session) based on that round is captured and called a session. You can have multiple Rounds, of all different round types, within the same Project.
Sessions are individual interviews/recordings done with your participants. To complete the file cabinet analogy, a session would be like a piece of paper in the folder (round) which is in a drawer (project)

Creating a Project
Log on to Lookback on your desktop/laptop on a Google Chrome browser
Click New Project on the top right corner.
Name your Project and add a description, if you like.
(Optional) Unless you are on a Starter or Freelance plan, you can also choose to make your project Private and add specific project members who can access your Project. Please note: in order to add members to your project, they need to already be members of your Lookback organisation. If they haven't already been added to your organisation, you can always add them to the project later.

Creating a Round of Research
To create a new round of research in your project:
Open the project where you want to create a round
Click on the ➕ icon next to Rounds
Choose the type of Round you want create (click on an option below to learn more)
LiveShare
A moderated, remote or in-person Round that allows you to have a face-to-face conversation with the participant and watch the participants screen as well. Main use case is usability testing of a website, prototype, or app.
Recording includes participant's voice and screen. Recording the participant's face/camera is is optional.
Moderator can also share their screen with the participant.
Compatible with Desktop, iOS, and Android.

Interview
A moderated Round where the focus is on a 1-on-1 conversation with the participant rather than the participant's screen.
Recording includes participant's voice and face, if the participant enables camera and mic. Both are optional and can be toggled on and off by the participant during the session as needed.
On Desktop, the Participant can also share their screen during the session
Moderator can share their screen with participant.
Compatible with Desktop, iOS and Android.
Participants are not required to download any App or Extension. They just click the Participant Link and start a session.

Tasks
An unmoderated, remote Round type that allows participants to carry out the session on their own time. Allows you to design give more detailed tasks and step-by-step instructions and ensure participants have completed a task before they proceed to the next. You can set a different auto-open url for each task, and limit the participants that can take this test, so that you have control over the number of sessions used in an unmoderated round.
Recording includes participant's voice and screen. Face camera recording is optional.
Compatible with iOS, Android, & Desktop
Participants are required to download Lookback's Participate App on mobile

An unmoderated, remote Round that allows participants to carry out the session on their own time. Allows you to give participants a short set of instructions to carry out. You can limit the participants that can take this test, so that you have control over the number of sessions used in an unmoderated round.
